Reasons to Fish at the Lake of the Ozarks this Fall

As you may have noticed, the temperatures are on the move, cooling down and letting us know that fall is here. If you're familiar with fishing, you know that as the temperature drops the fishing picks up, as the fish begin to become more active as they search for food and warmer waters. At Poly Lift Boat Lifts, we are passionate about boating and the activities that accompany it. This is why we strive to provide the top-of-the-line boat lifts and boat dock accessories at the Lake of the Ozarks, to ensure your experience out on the water is as memorable and comfortable as possible.

As a renowned vacation and seasonal viewing destination, the Lake of the Ozarks is a phenomenal place to fish this time of year. With over 1,150miles of shoreline, you're sure to find a favorite fishing spot, all while enjoying the natural beauty that is second to none. We're here to tell you just why you'll want to make this your destination fishing spot this fall.

November Fishing

November weather can vary drastically, having mild, sunny 70 degree days, followed by cold, dreary days in the 30s. This weather makes November the peak fishing month of fall, particularly for bass, as they start to increase their food consumption as the temperatures drop to near freezing levels. During this time, many fish will be migrating towards the shallows seeking warmth, giving you opportunities to make some big catches.

What's Biting?

The Lake of the Ozarks has many different types of fish, but some of the more prominent catches this time of year include bass, catfish, and crappie. You'll have better success catching bass when using topwater bait lures, strategically placed jigs, spinnerbaits, or plastic worms. The catfish tend to inhabit open water, so baiting near coves, river channel breaks, or deep flats are opportune spots to fish for them. Try baiting catfish with a bait that hovers a few feet from the bottom near these locations for the best chance of landing one. Crappie, on the other hand, will be found around brush piles, notably piles that are located near points.
